Ethernet services represent 18.6% of AES connectivity revenues in 2009 - Brazil
Ethernet services accounted for 18.6% of total AES Eletropaulo Telecom connectivity revenues in 2009, compared to 10.9% the previous year, company operations director Emerson Hioki told BNamericas.
AES Eletropaulo Telecom is the telecoms arm of Brazilian power company Eletropaulo.
The company launched Ethernet services in 2006, when this segment accounted for only 1.8% of the operator´s total connectivity revenues. In 2007, the segment represented 5.9%, the executive said. Ethernet services revenues grew at a CAGR of 187% during the 2006-09 period.
Hioki was unable to provide a forecast on the expected contribution of Ethernet services this year.
AES Eletropaulo Telecom operates in Sao Paulo, where it currently has approximately 150 corporate clients, and in Rio de Janeiro, where the company´s client base totals around 75 companies.
At the end of 2009, the company decided to merge its commercial and operational structure in both cities. Prior to this merger, the company had independent structures in the cities.
AES Eletropaulo Telecom operates a 5,000km fiber optic network in Brazil. The company offers telecoms services for fixed and mobile operators as well as ISPs.
